An open letter from the Butler Township Trustees

Butler Township has always been a community on the move with strong leadership, engaged citizens, and civic pride.

Unfortunately, the headlines in recent weeks have taken the focus off our mission: providing excellent services, attracting new businesses, supporting residential development, and fostering civic engagement and pride.

We apologize for the unprofessional behavior exhibited at recent trustee meetings and pledge to conduct future meetings with civility, respect, and open dialogue.

Our meetings should be a venue for the free exchange of differing ideas and respectful conversations about the merits of plans being considered. For our meetings to be effective, these must be the ground rules.

As a first step toward rebuilding trust, we will appoint a small budget committee comprised of experienced professionals in our township. This group will review our financial situation and make recommendations that will help us chart our future growth.

We ask for your support as we move forward together as a community.
