Scouts to pick up donations

PIQUA — Last weekend, Scouts in Piqua passed out dark blue door hangers throughout the city asking for non-perishable food donations to help families in Piqua.

This Saturday, March 20, Boy Scouts will be canvassing the city starting at 9 a.m. looking for food donations. Residents are asked to attach the blue door hanger to their own bag or box and place them outside in a place clearly visible from the road. This door hanger policy is an attempt to reduce waste and encourage recycling.

If your Scouting for Food donation does not get picked up or if you did not receive a door hanger and wish to donate, take your food to any of the following locations in Piqua, including Kroger, the Piqua Post Office, Park National Bank (downtown or Covington), YMCA or the Piqua Public Library.

For more information about joining Scouts, contact Al Fledderman at (937) 773-5330.

She also added that they will be accepting cash and checks at this time. All registrants receive a free yard sign and their name on the official garage sale map for $10. Additional information may be added for an extra charge of $5. Forms are available at the TMCS office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office is closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.

Maps will be available by Thursday, April 30 at various locations in Tipp City including the TMCS office. Visit the TMCS website or Facebook to find locations.

Easter Egg Splash scheduled at YMCA

TROY — The annual Easter Egg Splash for the Miami County YMCA Robinson Branch is set for March 28. The “hunt” itself will take place in the small pool of the facility following pictures with the Easter bunny in the main gym.

“The event is for ages 6 and under and we ask parents to get in with their little ones,” said Leia Lander, aquatic director for the Robinson branch. “It’s a fun way for some of the younger kids to hunt for eggs while acclimating to the water.”

The event on March 28 will be divided into three sections this year to accommodate social distancing requirements. Participants may sign up for a 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. time slot. Due to limited space, pre-registration is required.

The event is free for members and $5 for nonmembers.

For more information, contact Leia Lander at (937) 440-9622 or [email protected].
