DAYTON — On Friday, August 5 ninety adventurous individuals will rappel 27-stories, 347 feet, down KeyBank Tower into Courthouse Square, to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Miami Valley (BBBSGMV).
The sixth annual ‘Over the Edge’ fund-raiser begins at 10 a.m. and will continue until 6 p.m., as a part of Adventure Night, presented by Downtown Dayton Partnership.
“Over the Edge brings the whole community together in support of a positive future for our kids,” said Big Brothers Big Sisters’ CEO, Anne Pfeiffer. “No matter how someone chooses to be involved— as an Edger, sponsor, or attending the Drop Party —each person has a hand in helping to start a child on the right path. Every dollar raised through Over the Edge directly funds our mentoring programs in the Greater Miami Valley and helps to maintain and sustain our mentoring relationships, increasing kids chances for success.”
Funds raised support Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mission to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. The organization’s goal is to raise over $150,000 to help mentor 600 children. People can support the event by making a donation on the event website, www.bbbsgmv.org/ote or by joining the event at Courthouse Square to cheer on the rappellers and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
A VIP “Drop Party” will be held from 5 – 9 p.m. featuring a live band, craft beer and wine and appetizers. Admission is $10 and all proceeds go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Miami Valley. The Drop Party is sponsored by the BBBSGMV Associate Board.
Event sponsors for Over the Edge 2016 include presenting sponsor Liberty Nursing Centers, Lexis Nexis, Urban Krag Climbing Center, Dayton Business Journal, Indigo Life Media, Fifth Third Bank, Liftoff Entertainment, The Dayton Racquet Club, OHadventure.com, P&R Communications, Virtuojo and Qpr.
