Staff Report

DAYTON — The Carroll High School Patriot community is putting the “Pat” in St. Patrick’s Day and adding some new gladness to the madness of March with the first “Carroll St. PAT’S Fest” Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12 on the Carroll High campus.

The new St. PAT’S Fest is a joint effort by the Carroll Alumni Association, Patriot Booster Club, and the Carrolleer Band Parents. It combines the traditional alumni Friday, March 11 Fish Fry with an all‐new Family Fun Day on Saturday, March 12.

“By the time March rolls around everyone has a little ‘cabin fever’ and is ready to get out of the house and have a good time,” said Jack Glaser, St. PAT’S Fest event chairman and Carroll class of ’69. “Dayton loves St. Patrick’s Day, and so does the Carroll community. We think it’s the perfect holiday and the perfect time of year to rally everyone at Carroll behind a fun, new festival that we believe will be our most entertaining and top fundraising event of the year.”

The St. PAT’S Fest weekend kicks‐off with the Friday Irish Fish Fry from 6 p.m. to midnight. It’s the 31st year of this “gathering of the clans” for Carroll alumni, parents and friends. The event is for age 21 and older. Admission includes the Fish Fry dinner of baked and fried Icelandic Cod, red beans and rice and other side dishes, plus tickets for beer and wine.

Friday night’s entertainment features the Sons O’Blarney Irish Band from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., a silent auction, 50/50 “Pot of Gold Raffle,” and games of chance including Blackjack and Texas Hold ‘Em.

A special feature of the weekend festival is the Saturday Family Fun Day from noon to midnight on March 12. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.

The Saturday entertainment schedule includes a full day of performances by Irish dancers, pipe and drum, and Irish folk singers, plus the Carroll Jazz Band and CHS Call for Talent winners. The featured performance will be the Dulahan Irish Band at 8:15 p.m. followed by the Treble Reel Dance with all the Irish Dance schools.

Saturday Family Fun has plenty to offer for the “wee” members of the family. The Fiddler’s Corner Children Entertainment schedule features the Zoot Theatre Company Puppets, Celtic Storytellers and the Leprechaun Magic show.

The Irish Food and Spirits menu for Saturday includes corned beef, Irish stew, soda bread and other fun festival treats, plus Irish coffee, wine and a craft beer tasting.

There will also be basket raffles, a photo booth, carnival games, games of chance, face painting, and a Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament.

Families can purchase “Lad & Lassie Package” tickets for $10 for games and activities, including Shamrock Shenanigans crafts, a Scavenger Hunt, Irish Sweets Walk, Kiss the Blarney Stone, Leprechaun Bowling, Dragon Putt‐Putt and more.

Tickets to the Friday Irish Fish Fry are $15 in advance and $18 at the door. (Beer and wine tickets will be sold separately). Visit www.carrollhs.org/2016PatsFest or stop by the school office to purchase advance tickets by March 10. Early bird tickets will be entered in a special drawing.
