Caesar’s Creek Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics

Staff Report

COLUMBUS — On March 12, Special Olympics Ohio will encourage the public to do some Freezin’ for a Reason at the 6th Annual Caesar’s Creek Polar Plunge.

Hundreds of warm-hearted participants will take the chilly plunge to raise money for Special Olympics Ohio.

As part of the Polar Plunge experience, participants obtain monetary pledges to earn the privilege of jumping into the frigid waters of Caesar’s Creek. Another less chilly opportunity to raise money is Too Chicken to Plunge. To participate as a Chicken, one raises a minimum of $30 and is awarded with a Too Chicken to Plunge T-shirt as well the opportunity to NOT Plunge.

Teams of chickens may be formed in support of favorite Plungers. The Caesar’s Creek Polar Plunge is a family-friendly event and members of the public are invited to come and watch. Spectators may attend the Post-Plunge Party for $10.

The 2015 Caesar’s Creek Polar Plunge raised over $35,000 with more than 230 brave participants. This year’s Plunge starts at 1:30 p.m. at the Caesar’s Creek swimming beach. The Post-Plunge Party will be held at Fricker’s in Centerville and will feature awards for top fundraising teams and individuals as well as food and beverages for all Plunge participants, those Too Chicken to Plunge, and paid guests.
