COLUMBUS — The Ohio Society of CPAs is pleased to announce that Rep. Mike Henne, R-Clayton, has been recognized with OSCPA’s Outstanding Legislator Award for his tireless efforts to reform municipal income tax in Ohio.

Thanks in large part to the efforts of Rep. Henne, a member of the House Ways & Means Committee, along with joint sponsor Rep. Cheryl Grossman, R-Grove City, House Bill 5 (130th GA) was signed into law in December 2014. HB 5 creates greater uniformity among Ohio’s hundreds of municipal tax codes and ensures a local tax system that is simpler, fairer and more predictable.

“Rep. Henne’s unwavering commitment to municipal income tax reform cannot be understated,” said Scott D. Wiley, CAE, president and CEO. “Municipal tax reform was one of OSCPA’s top priorities, and the bill’s provisions will improve business conditions for CPAs and their clients. Rep. Henne’s efforts were crucial to the passage of House Bill 5.”

The years-long effort to reform municipal tax culminates in January 2016, when many of the bill’s provisions go into effect.
