Vandalia hires full-time firefighter

VANDALIA — Vandalia welcomed Mya Mitchell as a full-time firefighter and paramedic on Thursday morning. Mitchell has been with the department for nearly five years in a part-time position.

“I’m very excited to announce that we have filled our open career position and we would like to congratulate Mya Mitchell on her promotion,” said Fire Chief Chad Follick.

Mitchell will be assigned to Second Platoon at Fire Station 2.

Mitchell grew up in Westerville and Beavercreek, Ohio and she graduated from Beavercreek High School and has attended Wright State University, New Mexico State University, and Sinclair University.

She is a State of Ohio certified Firefighter, Paramedic, Fire-Safety Inspector, and a Fire Instructor.
