Vandalia Police Reports

VANDALIA – The following police reports were received from the Vandalia Division of Police. All subjects are innocent until found guilty in court of law.

August 12

A vehicle on Ronald Street at Wilhelmina Drive was towed due to not having license plates displayed.

John P. Allen, Jr., 20, was cited for two counts of failing to control a dog after two people were bitten at the Vandalia Sports Complex.

Shane L. Ryan, 26, was arrested on a warrant out of Miami County Municipal Court for failure to reinstate. He was transferred to the custody of a Troy officer.

A male driving a red GMC truck attempted to steal a piece of equipment from Sunbelt Rentals on Wyse Road. The investigation continues.

August 13

Tyler J. R. Hartless, 21, was arrested for domestic violence after an incident on Benchwood Road. He was taken to the county jail.

The Shell Station on National Road reported an unknown male stole drinks from the cooler. The investigation continues.

A 17-year old juvenile female was charged with being unruly after she left the house without permission. The juvenile has run away several times previously. She was found in Troy and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Kyle T. Cokeley, 26, was cited for driving under suspension after he was stopped for having expired plates. His vehicle was towed.

August 14

A resident on Timberlake Drive reported the theft of a package delivered by UPS. The investigation continues.

Beau Townsend Ford reported that a title from a vehicle they purchased was returned by the title bureau because the vehicle was entered as stolen by the Sheriff’s Office. Officers are working with the Sheriff’s Office to have the vehicle removed. No further action required.

Jacob M. Pollock, 32, was issued a summons after police were called to the Shell on National Road. He was also trespassed from the store.

A guest at the Super 8 motel reported that he was struck by a car in the parking lot. The investigation continues.

Carol A. Heis, 62, was arrested for OVI after being observed failing to stop at a stop sign. She was released to a family member.

August 15

Jacob M. Pollock, 32, was arrested for theft and criminal trespassing after police were alled to the Shell on National Road. He was taken to the county jail.

Donald P. Runner, 18, was arrested for disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana after police responded to a suspicious vehicle on National Road. He was taken to the county jail.

A person reported that while he was working on S. Brown School Road a bullet came over his head. A report was made to the Vandalia zoning department.

A resident on Northedge Drive found ammunition and black powder in a garage while cleaning it out. She turned the property over for destruction.

Lisa A. Skelton, 46, was arrested for domestic violence after an incident on Kirkwood Drive. She was taken to the county jail.

A complainant reported that someone stole vegetables from his garden at Jeffers Park Community Garden and smashed the vegetables at the shelter. The investigation continues.

Alexa Slaughter, 20, was issued a summons for theft after an incident at the Kroger on Northwoods Blvd.

An employee at Super 8 reported a theft of money while a male distracted the front desk employee. The suspect was recorded on video. The investigation continues.

August 16

William M. Trimble, 55, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct/intoxication after being found passed out in the bushes behind Rite Aid. He was also trespassed from the property. He was transported to a hospital due to the high level of intoxication.

An unknown suspect attempted to cash a forged check at Monroe Federal Bank. He fled when the teller became suspicious and called the business to confirm the check. Further investigation led to the arrest of Ajesh N. Shretta, 45, with grand theft.

Billy J. Criner, 37, was arrested on a felony warrant out of Franklin County for failure to appear on charges of forgery and receiving stolen property and a misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear on a hit/skip traffic incident. He was taken to the county jail.

A resident on Gateshead Court reported the theft of prescription medication from her purse. The investigation continues.

August 17

Kamre A. Young, 23, was arrested on a felony probation violation warrant out of Montgomery County Common Pleas Court on an original charge of trespass in habitation. He was taken to the county jail.

A 15-year old juvenile female was arrested for being unruly after running away. She was found and returned home.

A resident on Helke Road reported the theft of three personal checks by a known suspect. One of the checks was successfully cashed. The investigation continues.

Jerry L. Burris, II, 46, was arrested for felonious assault after an incident at Dayton Auto Auction. He was taken to the county jail.

August 18

Jessica M. Welch, 42, was arrested on a warrant out of Vandalia Municipal Court for failure to appear on a leaving the scene of an accident charge. She was taken to the county jail.
