Vandalia Police Reports


VANDALIA – The following police reports were received from the Vandalia Division of Police. All subjects are innocent until found guilty in court of law.

August 1

A 15-year old juvenile was charged with being unruly after a runaway.

August 3

Brian Millward, 21, and a 15-year old juvenile male were cited for criminal mischief after being found on Ashworth Drive pulling on door handles of vehicles attempting to gain entry.

Stephanie N. Gaza, 32, was issued a summons for possession of drugs after officers were sent to the Knights Inn on a medic run.

August 4

Officers were dispatched to the Knights Inn on the report of a person who cut himself. He was transported to Grandview Hospital.

A complainant on S. Dixie reported a known person stole a money order. The investigation continues.

A complainant at the Hawthorne Suites reported a large sum of cash taken from their room. The investigation continues.

A complainant on Waller Ave. reported that unknown suspect(s) slashed a tire on her car. The investigation continues.

August 5

Richard Carpenter, 47, was arrested on two counts of domestic violence after an incident on Westhafer Road. He was taken to the county jail.

Sherman D. Brown, 43, was arrested on a warrant out of Butler County Common Pleas Court for failure to appear on an original charge of felony non-support. He was taken to the county jail.

Andrew W. Moyer, 24, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct/intoxication. He was released to a sober friend.

A 14-year old juvenile male was charged with grand theft, fleeing and eluding, and being unruly after stealing a car. He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

August 6

Samuel J. Anderson, Jr., 36, was arrested for domestic violence after an incident on W. Alkaline Springs Road. He was taken to the county jail.

While on a business check, an officer noted the barn door at Cassel Hills Golf Course was damaged. The investigation continues.

August 7

After a traffic stop on Ricci at W. Alkaline Springs Road, William Hayslett, 36, was cited for multiple driving under suspension charges and released with a summons.

A business on Scholz Drive reported damage to a trailer. The investigation continues.

After transporting a subject to the county jail after sentencing at Vandalia Municipal Court, the suspect was found to have suspected methamphetamine on his person. The investigation continues.

August 8

A complainant reported that an unknown person made a withdrawal from her bank account. The investigation continues.

A complainant on Cassel Creek Drive reported that a relative entered her residence without permission and attempted to steal a shotgun. The investigation continues.

Michael E. Lewis, 46, and Connie L. Thompson, 43, were arrested for burglary after allegedly breaking into a shed at the Hawthorne Suites on Poe Avenue. Both were taken to the county jail.

A complainant on Westhafer Road reported several items missing from his residence after getting out of jail. The investigation continues.

A stolen vehicle was recovered on Park Center Drive and towed at the request of Dayton Police.

August 9

Tommi L. Radford, 34, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop on Little York Road.

Property owners on S. Brown School Road reported hearing a bullet allegedly coming from the Miami Valley Shooting Grounds. The report is for information purposes only.

August 10

Ronald Smith, 41, was arrested on a warrant out of Vandalia Municipal Court for failure to appear on a trespassing charge. He posted bond at the police department and was released.

Katherine L. Wiggins, 37, was arrested on a warrant out of Vandalia Municipal Court on a case of unauthorized use of property. She was taken to the county jail.

Therese E. Mann-Knaup, 38, was arrested for domestic violence after an incident on E. Van Lake Drive. She was taken to the county jail.

A complainant on Shire Court reported that his girlfriend damaged his vehicle and apartment doors. The investigation continues.

Kortney N. Wilcox, 23, was arrested on a warrant out of Vandalia Municipal Court for failure to appear on a traffic offense. She posted bond and was released.

August 11

A 14-year old juvenile was charged with underage possession of tobacco. He was released to his mother.

Jacob E. Graham, 39, was arrested for OVI after he was found passed out behind the wheel of his car in the drive thru at Taco Bell. He was taken to the county jail.
