November candidates certified by Montgomery County Board of Elections


VANDALIA-BUTLER — The slate of candidates for the November election has been set after the Montgomery County Board of Elections certified candidates for the final time on August 15.

There will be contested races for both the Vandalia City Council and the Butler Township Board of Trustees.

In Vandalia, incumbents Mike Blakesly, Candice Farst, and Dave Lewis along with Amber Aivalotis Weaver will vie for three seats.

In Butler Township, incumbents Mike Lang and Ken Betz will square off with Jim Landers for the two seats available.

The Vandalia-Butler Board of Education will have two new members as Holly Herbst and Kent Zimmerman will join incumbent Melissa Pruszynski to fill the three seats available.

The school district is also asking voters to renew a 6.99 mill levy and to make it permanent. It was originally approved as a five-year levy.

Voters will also decide on the renewal of a 6.03 mill levy for Montgomery County Health and Human Services, bond issues and tax levies of .80, .29, and .34 mills for the Miami Valley Career Technology Center, and a renewal levy of Sinclair Community College’s 3.2 mills levy.

Deadline for registering for the Nov. 7 election is October 10. Early voting will begin October 11.
