VANDALIA — The Art of the Camino by Guustie Alvarado will be on display at the Vandalia Municipal Building through September 30.
A reception with Alvarado will be held on Monday, August 21 from 5 – 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
The Art of Camino are a collection of paintings and drawings inspired by Alvarado’s visit to Spain’s Camino de Santiago de Compastella in 2014.
The display includes paintings made on the trip and five large pieces on wood with glass and oil paint inspired by the trip.
Alvarado has been working with glass since 1986.
“I was at OSU when my adviser told me to stop learning techniques and start making art,” Alvarado says in her Artist Statement. “So using all these glass techniques together with the painting skills, that I had learned while getting my associates degree I made my first fine art series, and realized that this was what I wanted to do – make series and tell stories.”
The Vandalia Municipal Building gallery is free and open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday excluding holidays.
