VANDALIA — The City of Vandalia has announced that two lanes of W. National Road will be closed for at least two days beginning Tuesday, August 8 weather permitting.
The lane closure will occur in front of the 40 West Development, which is the former site of Morton Middle School. Traffic will be shifted into the two southern lanes with one lane of traffic open in each direction. If construction permits, steel plates will be placed at the end of the work day to enable all four lanes to be opened in the evenings.
The closures will be made to allow the contractor to connect water and sewer lines to mains that run under National Road.
“We have instructed them that their work zone must meet the ODOT traffic manual with the amount of traffic on National Road,” said Vandalia Director of Public Service Rob Cron.
A&A Safety, a company that does highway traffic control for contractors and ODOT will set up the work zone.
Cron said that weather or other conditions could change the dates of the lane closures. The Vandalia Drummer News will update this story with any changes.
