VANDALIA — The Taste at the Crossroads has evolved over the past few years into another of Vandalia-Butler’s signature summer events, and the 2017 version promises to be the best ever.
The Taste, which is sponsored by the Vandalia-Butler Chamber of Commerce, will take place on Tuesday, June 27 from 5-8 p.m. at the Vandalia Sports Complex.
“Taste go’ers will notice a slight adjustment to the Taste grounds this year,” said Will Roberts, President and CEO of the Chamber. “We are moving the beverage area closer to the large dining tent to opening up the center area to allow better sight lines. We hope this will also give us better flow between each of our restaurants and caterers booth spaces.”
Roberts said that this year’s lineup of restaurants could be the best in the history of the Taste.
Those scheduled to attend are community favorites Creatif Catering and The Original Rib House, plus Longhorn Steakhouse, Max & Erma’s, JD’s Frozen Custard, Fricker’s, Hooters, Skyline Chili, Papa John’s Pizza, and Sam’s Club Bakery.
New vendors include Outback Steakhouse, Shen’s Szechuan & Sushi, the Submarine House and JJ’s Lunchbox.
“We are excited to announce new Taste vendors,” said Roberts. “From this exciting lineup we are anticipating up to 50 different food items for our guests to sample.”
Craft beer will also be available as the Taste will feature two of the top breweries in the Dayton area as voted by the Dayton Business Journal. Vandalia’s own Hairless Hare Brewery will join Crooked Handle, Fifth Street, and Mother Stewart’s breweries featuring one select brew.
“If you are a craft beer connoisseur, like gourmet pizza or just want to stop in, anyone who visits the Hairless Hare Brewery, takes a “selfie” in front of the Taste/Hairless banner and then posts it to the A Taste at the Crossroads facebook page could win free tickets to this year’s event,” said Roberts.
Other activities include a visit from Dan Edwards of Soft Rock 92.9 FM, balloon creations from Jeff Whisman, a cooking demo from Mike Lang, chair massages from Mindful Massage and an ice sculpture demo from the “Iceman” Ramon Rodriguez.
While supplies last, discounted pre-sale tickets are available at the Vandalia-Butler Chamber of Commerce office or through these area businesses partners: the Hairless Hare Brewery, Abbey Credit Union, Day Air Credit Union, Shen’s Szechuan & Sushi, Keller Williams Home Town Realty, Thein Financial Group, Max & Erma’s, the Submarine House.
Presale tickets are $15 each, with tickets at $20 on the day of admission. Children 9 years of age or younger will be admitted free with a paying adult.
