VANDALIA — The Tiny and Mini Expressions will wrap up their season with their celebratory exhibition performances on Saturday, May 13 at Northmont High School for the 20th Annual Dance Expressions Recital.

The team had a great season competing at various contests around Ohio and Kentucky.

On Saturday, March 4 at the Off the Edge contest in Cincinnati the Tiny Expressions took home a third place for their small division jazz routine Rockin’ Robin and a high superior rating. The team Jazz routine was awarded a high-superior rating and named the Cincinnati Regional Champions for their large jazz routine Fitting In. The team received two high-point trophies at this championship.

The group then wrapped up their team season in Vandalia at the Butler Kickline Invitational on March 11. They were named the Dayton Regional Jazz Champions with a Superior Rating. The Officer Line was ranked a high superior and 1st place as well. The team was awarded one of the High-Point trophies for their age division. Primary team Captain Reagan Downey, summed up her year in the leadership category with three Ultimate Star ratings.

The Mini Expressions had big competition in Cincinnati and came away with a High Superior rating in the team Jazz category Baby I’m a Star and Ultimate Star ratings for both their third place Pom Mix it Up and second place for their Officer New Girl in Town routine.

At the Butler contest, the Mini Expressions were named Dayton Regional Champions as an officer line with an Ultimate Star rating. The team Jazz routine was awarded third place and a high-superior rating. The Pom ranked an Ultimate Star and second place plus a high-point trophy for being a top team of the day.

Elementary team Captain, Scarlett Mattice was awarded a high superior and two Ultimate Stars for her leadership abilities at the various contests this season.

Both officer lines’ traveled to Kentucky on Sunday, April 9 to defend 14 years of being Gold Medalists in the Showcase America Officer Line Championship. The groups were once again awarded first place for their outstanding performances.

The Tiny team ranked an Ultimate Star and the Mini group ranked the highest level Showcase Star. “The coaching staff is so proud of these young ladies, they’ve had an incredible year”, states Director Lori Downey. Student Coaches & Officer Line Choreographers are Torre Romano, Katie Hausfeld & Avery Gunderson. Auditions will be held Tuesday, May 16 for the 2017-2018 teams.
