Butler Kickline named Grand Champions

VANDALIA — The Butler Kickline hosted the SCAU Dayton Regional contest on March 11, and came away with 1st place in jazz, open, hip hop and officer and second place in pom and lyrical. The combined team of Butler and Sr. Expressions were named Grand Champs, having the top three highest scoring routines of the day.

The Butler coaching staff was honored and recognized for their years of service: Pam Drewry, for 17 years as director, Lori Downey, for seven years as director and 17 years as head coach and choreographer, and Samantha Romano, for nine years as coach and choreographer.

Next up, state competition at Harrison High School in Cincinnati, with first place for their jazz, lyrical, open, hip hop and officer routine and second in pom. Butler’s captain, Torre Romano, was awarded Captain of the Day, and again the combined team of Butler Kickline and Sr. Expressions were named Grand Champions.

The team will travel to the Bank of Kentucky arena on April 7-9 to compete at the national level.
