VANDALIA — The Dance Expressions competition dancers have had a great year competing with various studio circuits. Our soloists, trio’s and groups had a season of amazing ratings, tons of special awards, choreography recognition, audience and judges choice awards, individual scholarships & dozens of placements in the overalls.

Highlights were:

Masquerade Dance Dayton – Receiving an Encore award for Elite age 15-19 year olds, the group Saved was asked to perform again at the end of the show. Taryn Smith received a surprise award; Miss Petite Masquerade. Lauren Verdes received a “stand out dancer” award. The Trio of Taryn Smith, Jenna Dietz, Logan Druck won the Triple Threat award. The routine “Dolls” won for Best Choreography.

Winning first overall in respective age groups/divisions were: Kiersten McBride, Sydney Lawler, Julia Staub, Kara Landis, Hope Barlow, Dolls group, Interactions group (Audience and Judges choice), Jr. Trio, Jungle Boogie group, One World group. The icing on the cake was receiving the Industry Award, Parade of Stars award and Overall Regional Champion~ Interactions.

Rainbow Dance Circuit Columbus – The soloists and group routines were awarded 90 percent Platinum ratings for their performances. Several dancers won invitations to the NYC All-Stars convention/tour. Other awards included Best Costume-Dolls and Best Choreography-Interactions. A huge accomplishment for Torre Romano by placing fifth and Samantha Peters placing third overall in the Elite age 15-18 year old soloists out of 56 advanced entries. Winning first overall in respective age group/divisions were soloist Kiersten McBride, Line champions-Saved, Large Group Champions-Bring on the Men, Small Group Champions-Interactions.

Nexstar Dance Dayton May – Our soloists received an overwhelming amount of first place finishes in their specific category and platinum ratings. The groups were super excited to receive Golden Tickets for groups of Jungle Boogie, One World, and Interactions. Best Costume was awarded to small group – One World. Winning first overall in respective age group/divisions were Haleigh Gross, Emily Hoagland, Samantha Peters, Saved, Bring on the Men, Interactions. The teams were ecstatic to learn the won Best Choreography and Regional Champions for their small group routine Interactions that went undefeated all year.

The dancers have won almost $1200.00 in future entry fee’s from various contests.

The group of Interactions dancers Hope Barlow, Emily Hoagland, Taylor Imwalle, Justine Liptak, Sam Peters, Torre Romano, Sarah Swarts, Lauren Verdes that were most recently crowned Dayton Regional Champions will be featured in a future program.

Choreographers for the various solo/trio/group routines are Lori Downey (owner/director), Amy Jones, Samantha Romano, Ali Romano, Sarah Ingram, Margo Shininger, Chelsea Hoagland, Kim Owen. Student teachers/Choreographers; Samantha Peters, Taylor Imwalle, Torre Romano, Emily Hoagland, Hope Barlow, Lauren Verdes, Claire VanHoose with High School group Director Pam Drewry and registration coordinator Lori Hoagland.
