Vandalia Police Reports

VANDALIA – The following police reports were received from the Vandalia Division of Police. All subjects are innocent until found guilty in court of law.

October 24

Police investigated a possible felony domestic violence on S. Brown School Road. The investigation continues.

October 25

Police responded to check the welfare of a resident who was threatening suicide. The person was transported to Grandview Hospital.

October 26

A 13-year old juvenile female was charged with being unruly after leaving her house without permission. Police located her and returned her home. She was referred to Juvenile Court.

Police investigated a complaint that a vehicle struck the complainant’s vehicle while pulling out of a parking space. The investigation continues.

While responding to a disorderly conduct complaint, police found no criminal conduct but arrested Brandon W. Miller, 28, on two warrants out of Vandalia Municipal Court for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the county jail.

October 27

While on patrol, an officer found a van with just one headlight. The driver was cited for driving under suspension and the vehicle towed.

A 15-year old juvenile male was arrested for being intoxicated at Butler High School. He was placed in the custody of his juvenile probation officer who took him home.

October 28

Officers investigated the attempted theft of a cart full of beer at the Kroger on Northwoods Blvd. When confronted by a loss prevention employee, the man fled. The investigation continues.

Three individuals entered Elements IV Interiors on Wyse Road and requested to look at office furniture and while in the business removed a credit card and debit card from an employee’s purse. The theft was discovered immediately but there is no suspect information other than descriptions. The investigation continues.

An adult female wrote a check to Buckeye Harley Davidson for goods and it was returned for insufficient funds. The woman did not respond to a 10-day demand letter. The investigation continues.

Don V. Burke, 33, at large, was arrested for burglary, having weapons under disability, and theft of firearms after being found in a closet at a residence on Scott Ave. He was transported to the county jail.
