McDonald’s Restaurants of the Miami Valley presented 91 local teachers with Make Activities Count (MAC) grants at a presentation on Monday, November 7 at the Joan and Ray Kroc Center in Dayton. These grants are designed to support hands-on activities as a supplement to classroom curriculum for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Local area teachers receiving grants were:

  • Kate Brookshire, Morton Middle School
  • Christina Zink, Helke Elementary
  • Amy Heis, Helke Elementary

“Education plays a vital role in improving our community and creating a brighter future for our children,” said Al Herzog, President, McDonald’s Restaurants of the Miami Valley. “Through the MAC grants program, we’re able to directly give back to the students, teachers and communities in our neighborhoods to help engage students and teachers in a lifelong passion for learning.”

Teachers across the Miami Valley were encouraged to participate in the application and selection process by submitting a proposal for their classroom idea.

Over the last 14 years, McDonald’s Restaurants of the Miami Valley have awarded more than half a million dollars to support supplemental classroom projects. This year’s winning classrooms will use the grants to support unique learning experiences like science experiments, music appreciation, computer coding and more.
