VANDALIA – Vandalia Firefighters were called to an apartment fire on S. Brown School Road Friday morning. According to the Division’s Facebook page, the fire was quickly confined to the deck and an adjacent wall at the front of the apartment.

The occupant was home and was brought out by fire fighters. There was no smoke or damage to the apartments as the fire was contained to the deck and exterior walls. The fire is accidental in nature and no one was injured.

“We received assistance from Butler and Huber Fire,” said Fire Chief Chad Follick. “Thanks to an astute neighbor for noticing the fire and calling 911 and to Vandalia Police for responding quickly and putting a fire extinguisher on the fire. Quick 911 call and police actions kept the fire from spreading and threatening other occupants.”
