WASHINGTON, DC – Vandalia-Butler City Schools and Treasurer/CFO Eric Beavers are being recognized for excellence in financial reporting. The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded Beavers and the district a Certificate of Achievement for the district’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR), for the period ending June 30, 2015.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Members of an impartial panel that judged the reports say the district’s CAFR met the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate the district’s financial story and motive potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
“I’m honored and thrilled our District has received this recognition. We wouldn’t have received this award if it weren’t for the efforts, support and work of the finance team, administration, board of education and our staff. It is accomplished from collaboration and teamwork. We will continue to strive for excellence in our financial operations and reporting while maintaining a high standard of transparency,” Beavers said.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
