Vandalia Farmer’s Market – July 8

VANDALIA – The Vandalia Community Farmer’s Market will be open from 4-8 p.m. on Friday.

Vandalia Cultural Arts presents Megan Osman at the Vandalia Farmer’s Market! We are looking forward to new vendor, The Lavender Lady featuring fresh cut flowers and lavender. Our fourth produce vendor, Cressell’s Farm, joins us this week.

The Market is located in Seger Park adjacent to the Vandalia Senior Center.

MOPS to hold annual yard/bake sale

VANDALIA — It’s time for the Annual MOPS Yard/Bake Sale. Something for everyone! Toys, Household items, clothes, decor, baby and kid items, books pretty much everything! Te sale will be held Friday, July 8 from 9-1 and Saturday, July 9 from 9-3 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 122 W. National Road, Vandalia. All proceeds will benefit our MOPS group. Please share and invite friends.

Butler Twp. Budget Commission meetings set

BUTLER TWP. – The Butler Township Budget Commission has scheduled meetings on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month starting at 6 p.m. and concluding September 28 at the Butler Township Meeting Hall, 3780 Little York Road, Dayton, Oh 45414.

The meetings are open to the public.

Polk Grove UMC to celebrate 200 years

BUTLER TWP. – Take a step back in time as Polk Grove United Church of Christ celebrates their 200th anniversary on Saturday July 23. The afternoon of fun will begin at 3 p.m. with an old fashion basket meeting in the grove just as they did in the early 1900s. There will be crafts, games for children of all ages, and the Kettering Banjo Society will highlight the day’s activities. Jim Bucher will emcee the day’s guest speakers. Be sure to bring a covered dish for dinner in the fellowship hall. Table service and drinks will be provided along with an ice cream dessert.

Learn about space exploration at free event

Commemorate the anniversaries of several milestone space explorations during the “Newton in Space” event from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, July 16 at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. 2016 marks the 45th anniversary of the Apollo 15 mission, which had an all Air Force crew and landed on the moon on July 30, 1971. Visitors can see the Apollo 15 command module on display in the Space Gallery in the museum’s new fourth building!

Interactive MathAlive! exhibit coming to museum

Looking to avoid the “summer slide” with your school-age children? Make plans to check out the MathAlive! exhibit, an interactive traveling exhibit opening next month at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. The free 5,000-square-foot exhibit, which is underwritten by Raytheon, will be open at the museum July 23-Oct. 2. Forty immersive activities create fun experiences that bring to life the real math behind the things kids love most – video games, sports, design, music, entertainment, space and robotics.

Northmont Class of 1966 plans reunion

CLAYTON — The Planning Committee of the Northmont Class of 1966 is busy planning for their 50th class reunion the weekend of August 19, 2016. There are a number of missing classmates still needing to be reached. Englewood Art Festival seeking artists, parade participants

ENGLEWOOD — Applications from artists and parade participants for the 43rd annual Englewood Art Festival, Saturday August 13, and Sunday August 14, 2016 are now being accepted by the Englewood Festival and Arts Commission.

The parade is a prelude to all of the festival events and will take place on Union Boulevard at 9 a.m. Saturday August 13.

Artists are asked to submit photos of their handmade original work for review by the Festival Exhibitors Committee. Applications are due June 1 and can be found on the Englewood city website at www.englewood.oh.us or by calling the Earl Heck Community Center at 937-836-5929.

Library teen photo contest accepting entries

DAYTON — Area teens are invited to enter the Dayton Metro Library’s Teen Photo Contest, accepting entries now through July 30, 2016. Montgomery County teens in grades 7-12 can enter in one of four categories: Black & White, Color, Digitally Enhanced and Googly-Eyes. Cash prizes courtesy of the Friends of the Library will be awarded in each category: $100 first place, $75 second place, $50 third place.

“Entries will be judged on quality and creativity,” said Steve Moser, Teen Services Librarian. “Judges will select the finalists in each category, then the finalists will be posted on our website for popular vote.”

To enter, email photos as attachments to smoser@daytonmetrolibrary.org. In the body of the email, entrants must include their name, address, phone number, email address, school, grade, photo title and the category they are entering.

Kiser High School Almuni Meetings

HUBER HEIGHTS — Kiser High School alumni meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month (except November and December) at the American Legion Post 200 which is at 5046 Nebraska Avenue, Huber Heights. Meetings begin at 7 p.m. Graduates, attendees, and friends of Kiser High School ae welcome to attend. Please park at the rear of the building and use rear entrance.

Vandalia Lions Club meets twice monthly

VANDALIA — The Vandalia Lions Club holds dinner meetings on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the Cassel Hills Golf Clubhouse at 6:30 p.m. The club does not hold dinner meetings in July or August. Programs include speakers covering topical subjects.

Sister Cities meets each month

VANDALIA – Sister Cities of Vandalia meets the second Wednesday of each month at the Senior Citizen’s Center on Tionda Dr. at 7 p.m. followed by a Gemuetlichkeit (social) hour.

Rotary Club of Vandalia meets on Thursdays

Mothers groups meet in Vandalia

VANDALIA — MOPS and MOMS Next meetings offer community and mothering support to mothers of children age birth through six. MOPS and MOMS Next meetings are held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vandalia (122 W. National Rd. in Vandalia next to Rite Aid) on the second and fourth Thursday evenings of each month from 6 – 8:15 p.m. Childcare is provided (please RSVP prior to attending to ensure enough childcare workers are available). TOPS meets in Tipp City
