VANDALIA — A driver was killed on I-75 north early this morning just north of I-70 according to Vandalia officials. The driver, who has not been identified, struck the back of a semi trailer that was stopped in traffic due to a separate semi trailer fire that had all northbound lanes of traffic stopped.

Traffic has been backed up for miles since around 3 a.m. due to the truck fire. The fatal accident occurred around 5:30 a.m.

As of 10 a.m. all three lanes of traffic are now open.

I will bring more information as it is available.
