VANDALIA — Vandalia’s newest police officer was sworn in on Monday. Tim Christian took the oath of office on Monday morning administered by Police Chief Douglas Knight. Christian fills a vacancy created by the retirement of Officer Larry Erbaugh in October 2015.
Officer Christian has been a member of Division as a reserve police officer since January. Tim graduated from Greenview Senior High School in 1995. In 2015, he graduated from the Clark State Community College Criminal Justice Academy. Tim and his wife, Jaimie reside in Butler Township with their two children.
“While he has been employed in another location, Tim has expressed his desire to be a police officer, and only be a police officer in Vandalia,” said Knight. “His passion for Vandalia impressed us.”
Knight said that Christian’s maturity was a key factor in his selection as well.
“Tim is a little older that the average applicant but he is very energetic,” said Knight. “He has been in the service business and understands citizen satisfaction.”
Please join me in congratulating Tim, once again, for his success in the police officer selection process.
