VANDALIA – Mallory Evans and Ava Stephens both raised over $250 in donations and pledges for the Helke PTA Walkathon that was held in May. Helke students walked an average of three miles per student on the Walkathon course.

The entire school participated in two hours of physical fitness while walking, running, and dancing around the walkathon course, playing a variety of games and conquering an inflatable obstacle course.

In all, Helke students raised nearly $6,000 for the Helke PTA which is using a portion of the funds raised to cover the cost of the Kids Read Now Summer reading program. The remaining money raised will be put to use in providing a variety of educational experiences for the students at Helke Elementary.
