VANDALIA — The City of Vandalia has called a special meeting of the City Council to discuss a proposed project in the Northwoods Business Park with residents. The meeting will be Monday, June 6 at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at 333 James Bohanan Drive.

The project, which is still “very preliminary” according to City Manager Jon Crusey, would require the reactivation of an existing CSX rail spur and the construction of a second rail spur into the site.

What the proposed project is, and the exact location, has not been disclosed. In a letter sent to residents along Cassel Road, Crusey said no development plans have been submitted.

“The purpose of this meeting is to inform the residents along Cassel Road about what we do know about the proposed project and to hear from you regarding ways to minimize the effects of this development, or any future development withing the business park.”

Many residents in the potentially affected area have been vocal in their opposition to a plan by the Montgomery County Transportation Improvement District (TID) to extend the rail spur across I-75 toward the Dayton International Airport.
