Art Park unveiling set for June 4

The sculpture named Daddy Longlegs has been purchased and will become a permanent feature of the Vandalia Art Park.

VANDALIA — The Vandalia Art Park will open the 2016-17 Season on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 1 p.m. with two new installations: “Art Parked 2016-17” which is eight new sculptures from Midwest Sculpture Initiative and “Inspired” a series of 12 inspirational photographs by local artist Jenny Jackson.

The eastern portion of the Vandalia Rotary Bridge, an Eagle Scout Project from Bobby Zebney—Troop #204, will be dedicated at 1:30.

The adjoining Vandalia-Butler Historical Society grounds will hold an Open House from 1-3 p.m.

Other on-going activities will be: “chalk the walk,” rug hooking demonstration, coloring, music, plein art artists, and a community art piece guided by Vandalia Cultural Arts Committee Members. Kathy, from Day Yoga, will give a yoga class on the lawn at 1:40 p.m. (bring your mat to join.)

The Community is encouraged to stroll the park, enjoy the artwork and music and join others in creating art.
