Vandalia police reports

VANDALIA — The following police reports were received from the Vandalia Division of Police. All subjects are innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

June 15

Sean MacGowen, 24, was arrested for assault after officers responded to the report of an assault at an address on National Road. He was released with a summons.

June 16

A manager at Beau Townsend Ford reported that a customer’s car that had been at the dealership for service was stolen. Surveillance video showed an unknown individual entering the vehicle and driving off shortly after midnight on June 14. The investigation continues.

A complainant filed a report of identity theft by filing a false tax return. The investigation continues.

Mitchell A. Ault, 24, and Matthew Ault, 25, both of Troy, were arrested for theft after they allegedly stole a bicycle advertised for sale on Craigslist. The two men took the bike from the man in the McDonald’s parking lot. Tipp City police stopped the vehicle and detained the subjects. They were issued a summons and released.

A complainant reported that unknown persons cut a lock off their utility trailer parked at an address on Little York Road and took numerous power tools. The tools were engraved with the name of the company. The investigation continues.

The manager at Thrifty Car Rental reported that a 2013 Chevy Captiva was stolen from their parking lot. The investigation continues.

June 17

A complainant on Bright Avenue reported that unknown suspect(s) broke into a vehicle and stole change and rummaged through the glove box. The investigation continues.

An 11-year old juvenile female was charged with theft after a grandmother reported that her granddaughter had stolen a credit card and made several unauthorized transactions. Charges were forwarded to the Montgomery County Juvenile Court.

A complainant on Continental Ct. reported that the window of her vehicle was broken and a purse and a prescription were taken. The investigation continues.

A complainant on Helke Road reported that a person who had been staying with him for the past month moved out unexpectedly and took a television and laptop computer. The investigation continues.

A complainant filed a report of identity theft by filing a false tax return. The investigation continues.

A complainant on Continental Court reported that her vehicle was broken into overnight. A purse was stolen.

June 18

A complainant reported that an unknown person called him, identified himself as a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy, and threatened to arrest him. There are no known suspects. The investigation continues.

Crystal D. Abling, 26, was arrested on a warrant out of Greene County on a felony probation violation warrant on an original charge of grand theft auto, receiving stolen property, and theft after an officer went to speak to her about a theft at a neighbor’s building. She was transferred to a Greene County Deputy Sheriff.

An auto dealer reported a car had been discovered missing during their monthly audit. The investigation continues.

Nicole M. Cassara, 22, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia after officers responded to a medic call.

June 19

Tiffany R. Newman, 34, was arrested on a federal probation violation warrant after officers responded to the Flying J on the report of Newman soliciting drivers for prostitution. She was taken to the county jail.

Michael A. Johnson, 55, was arrested for disorderly conduct after he was found intoxicated at the BP Gas Station on E. National Road. He was also charged with criminal trespassing due to a previous trespass complaint. He was released to a sober friend.

A guest at the Hawthorne Suites reported that an unknown person stole his wallet, credit card, and cash. The wallet was discovered in a dumpster on site. The investigation continues.

June 20

Vehicles were broken into on Buttercup Avenue, Kirkwood Drive, Timberlake Drive, Pool Avenue, and Brusman Drive. The investigation continues.

Warren McKinney, 58, was arrested on a warrant out of Fairborn Municipal Court for failure to appear on a disorderly conduct charge. He was turned over to a Fairborn officer.

Rodney J. Woods, 21, was arrested on a warrant for assault out of Montgomery County Municipal Court after a random license plate check at the Knights Inn. He was taken to the county jail.

Thaddeus E. Hanley, 45, was arrested for disorderly conduct after he was found intoxicated in a vehicle. He was released to a sober friend.

A complainant reported that his ex-girlfriend assaulted him the previous night at Oscar’s Bar. The investigation continues.

A 17-year old juvenile was arrested for OVI and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop on Dixie Drive. He was released to his mother and referred to juvenile court.

Cecilia Coriell, 55, was arrested for OVI after a traffic stop on E. National Road. She was released to a sober friend.

Cody J. Myers, 29, was cited for marijuana possession and having expired plates after a traffic stop.

Vehicles were broken into on Pool Avenue and W. Alkaline Springs Road and items taken. The investigation continues.

June 22

Wayne K. Tackett, 34, was arrested on a warrant out of Dayton Municipal Court for failure to appear on a wrongful entrustment charge. He was also cited for license restrictions and tail light infractions. He was taken to the county jail.
