VB Board of Ed to honor three retirees


VANDALIA — The Vandalia-Butler City Schools Board of Education will honor three district retirees Tuesday, May 24 at the monthly Board of Education meeting held in the Butler High School Lecture Room.  A reception for the retirees will be held from 5:30 – 6 p.m., with the Board meeting and recognition at 6 p.m.

This year’s retirees are Sharon Dixon, Rosemary Eilerman and Patricia Kane. 

Sharon Dixon has worked in Food Service with the district for 30 years.  She started subbing in 1986 and became a permanent fixture in the district cafeterias in October 1986.  She worked at Murlin Heights Elementary, Smith Middle School, Morton Middle School and Helke Elementary.

Rosemary Eilerman has been a Special Education Assistant with the district for 12 years.  Eilerman came to Vandalia-Butler in 2004.  She has spent her time at Morton Middle School.

Patricia Kane has taught in the Vandalia-Butler City Schools for 23 years, after teaching in New York and another school in Ohio.  She started in the district in 1993, teaching first grade at Helke Elementary.  She moved to Demmitt Elementary in 2013 and stayed there until retirement.

Staff, students and community members are welcome to attend the reception and meeting to honor these long-time district employees and their contributions to our district.
