Spring food drive benefits Food Pantry
VANDALIA-BUTLER — The annual spring food drive is underway April 9-29 and there are several locations where food can be donated. Community drop-off locations are the Vandalia Fire Department, Vandalia Rec Center, Butler Township Government center, McDonald’s (Vandalia and Butler Township), Vandalia Municipal Building. In addition, the Vandalia-Butler City Schools are collecting food. All food donations stay local and benefit families in Vandalia and Butler Township. Food Items most needed: Jelly, Spaghetti, Pasta, Canned Chicken, Jello/Pudding, Baked Beans, Canned Fruit, Boxed Potatoes. Thank you for your generosity in supporting the Vandalia Food Pantry.
Springtime in Vandalia set for April 23
VANDALIA – Springtime in Vandalia, the annual art and craft show sponsored by Kappa Beta service sorority will once again be held at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Drive, on Saturday, April 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission and parking are free. Lunch/brunch will also be served. Many fine artisans and crafters will be present to share their talents and products. There will also be artist demonstrations.
This is a great time to buy unique Mothers’ Day gifts or gifts for other upcoming special occasions. This event is open to the public. Please come and bring a friend. Proceeds from this event go to support several charities and three Butler High School scholarships provided by Kappa Beta. Locally, the charities are the Vandalia Foodbank, nursing home programs, Crayons to Classrooms, Dayton Children’s Hospital and the Fisher House at WPAFB. Additional charities are supported through our district and international chapters of Sigma Phi Gamma. Springtime in Vandalia is a great opportunity to buy unique gifts and support charities.

CLAYTON — The Planning Committee of the Northmont Class of 1966 is busy planning for their 50th class reunion the weekend of August 19, 2016. Englewood Art Festival seeking artists, parade participants
ENGLEWOOD — Applications from artists and parade participants for the 43rd annual Englewood Art Festival, Saturday August 13, and Sunday August 14, 2016 are now being accepted by the Englewood Festival and Arts Commission.
The parade is a prelude to all of the festival events and will take place on Union Boulevard at 9 a.m. Saturday August 13.
Artists are asked to submit photos of their handmade original work for review by the Festival Exhibitors Committee. Applications are due June 1 and can be found on the Englewood city website at www.englewood.oh.us or by calling the Earl Heck Community Center at 937-836-5929.
Summer Aerospace Camp registration now open
WPAFB – Registration for four affordable and exciting summer aerospace camps is now open at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Campers who have completed grades 4-8 will be able to learn about a variety of topics through hands-on activities that incorporate history, science and math concepts, as well as team-building skills. More than 130 pieces of art created by local students from schools across the Miami Valley will be on display at the National Museum of the U.S Air Force during the 33rd Annual Student Aviation Art Competition and Exhibition. Welcome spring with kite stories, kite building and kite flying during the “Kite Tales” event from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on April 23 at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Visitors can observe the incredible sport of indoor kite flying by watching members of local kite clubs fly their kites indoors with no wind! Kiser High School Almuni Meetings
HUBER HEIGHTS — Kiser High School alumni meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month (except November and December) at the American Legion Post 200 which is at 5046 Nebraska Avenue, Huber Heights. Vandalia Lions Club meets twice monthly
VANDALIA — The Vandalia Lions Club holds dinner meetings on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the Cassel Hills Golf Clubhouse at 6:30 p.m. The club does not hold dinner meetings in July or August. Programs include speakers covering topical subjects. On April 28 the speaker will be Doug Deutsch and he will speak about identity theft and protection.
