VANDALIA — Vandalia based Lion Apparel recently donated $1,250 to the Military Veteran’s Resource Center (MVRC). The Resource Center s local office is at 5420 Brandt Pike in Huber Heights.
Steve Schwartz, CEO and Co-Owner of Lion Group, Inc., presented the check to Len Proper, Executive Director of MVRC.
The funds for the donation was raised through “Jeans Day” at the company. Employees can wear blue jeans once a month in exchange for a $55 charitable donation. The company then matches a portion of that donation and a charity is selected for the contribution annually.
The funds are earmarked for programs that provide counseling for veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Military Veterans Resource Center’s mission is to help veterans develop self-reliance and independence by providing access to the resources they need to successfully manage life transitions.
Lion previously donated the same amount to the Vandalia Division of Fire for the purchase of smoke detectors.
“I think it is a great statement from our employees about their sense of corporate responsibility, a sense of giving back to the community,” said Schwartz at the Vandalia donation. “It is part of our culture, and I’m very proud of that.”
Lion Apparel is a leading provider of protective equipment for fire, law enforcement, and military personnel.
