Vandalia Police Reports

VANDALIA – The following police reports were received from the Vandalia Division of Police. All subjects are innocent until found guilty in court of law.

March 11

A complainant on Pool Ave. reported that a person attempted to gain entry into his vehicle. The investigation continues.

Anthony Hazley, 50, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and 15 traffic violations after a traffic stop Poe Avenue near Little York Road. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Joseph M. Raines, 37, of Englewood, was arrested for drug paraphernalia and a warrant out of Butler Township after police were called to Kroger on the report of a suspicious person. He was was transferred to the custody of a Butler Township officer.

March 12

A complainant on Bennert Dr. reported that unknown person(s) entered his garage and stole a purse out of a vehicle. The investigation continues.

Unknown persons entered a garage on Scott Ave. and took a chain saw. The investigation continues.

Randy L. Everhart, 57, of Washington Courthouse, was arrested on a warrant out of Union County for two counts of illegal conveyance into a detention center and tampering with evidence after a license plate check at the Knights Inn. He was

March 13

A complainant reported a hit and run crash in the parking lot of the Speedway on E. National Road. The investigation continues.

A complainant reported that her car was broken into while parked at the Knights Inn and items were taken from her purse. The investigation continues.

Benjamin T. Holtzclaw, 26, was arrested for domestic violence after an incident with his girlfriend. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

March 14

A complainant on Brusman Dr. reported that unknown person forced entry into his apartment and stole several electronic items. The investigation continues.

An unknown suspect attempted to pawn an air tool at Cashland that was stolen from another store in the area. The investigation continues.

March 16

A 15-year old juvenile female was charged for sending nude photographs of another juvenile over social media. The teen was charged with disseminating matter harmful to juveniles and referred to Montgomery County Juvenile Court.

The manager at Waffle House fond three small bags of suspected crystal meth and a bag of marijuana in a booth. They were logged in police property for destruction.

March 17

Aaron D. Calhour, 24, Dayton, was cited for driving under suspension and expired plated. He was released and his vehicle towed.

March 18

A complainant reported that his adult daughter deposited a check into his checking account and withdrew the money without his permission. The check was not valid and the complainant is out over $1700. The investigation continues.

Tommy I. Chasteen, 29, was arrested on a warrant out of Kentucky for failure to report to parole officer. He was taken to the Montgomery County Jail.

A complainant reported that unauthorized accounts were being set up in his name. There are no suspects.

A resident on Gabriel St. reported that a dirt bike was removed from their driveway. The investigation continues.

A known individual wrote a bad check for services he received from Ziebart automotive on Poe Avenue. The investigation continues.

Vernon R. Sells, 69, of Springfield, was arrested on a warrant out of Moraine for failure to appear on a public intoxication charge. He was transferred to a Moraine officer.

March 19

A complainant reported she had paid $1,795 to a seller on Ebay for a body wrap. The device did not arrive. The investigation continues.

Danny J. Norman, Jr., 25, of Dayton, was arrested for OVI after a traffic stop on Foley Dr. He was also arrested on three active warrants out of Vandalia, Miami County, and Clark County. He was taken to the county jail.

March 20

An unknown person broke a window in a vehicle at the Longhorn Restaurant on Miller Lane. The investigation continues.
