VANDALIA — Photographs by Vandalia photographer Robert Farley are on display in the Vandalia Municipal Building through May 6.
Farely is a Vandalia native who attened Murlin Heights, Smith, and Butler High School.
According to Farely’s Artist Statement, his early interest in art revolved around drawing but changed over time.
“As I spent less time honing that skill, I turned to photography as my creative outlet,” he wrote.
The images on display at the Municipal Building are a small sample of his work that have been taken around the nation as jobs relocated Farley in several states. The two predominant mediums on display are canvas and metal. There are also some photo prints.
“While not married to any particular display style, I like the canvas for the larger displays and the metal for smaller scale ones,” Wrote Farley.
Farely’s images have received recognition in various contests and publications. He has been published in Digital Photographer Magazine and has received multiple awards at Betterphoto.com. Two works are finalists in the Betterphoto.com 20th Anniversary Best of the Best competition.
The Exhibit is open for display Monday thru Friday, 8am to 5pm in the Vandalia Municipal Building Gallery, 333 James Bohanan Drive, Vandalia. A reception will be held on Monday, April 18 from 6pm to 8pm. The public is invited to attend.
