VANDALIA — The Seventh Annual Chili Cook-off at VFW Post 9582 in Vandalia was a tasty success. Sixteen individuals competed with a variety of chilis, each with its own style. The judges this year were Tipp City’s Sam & Ethel Restaurant owner Keith Long, Mark Long, Ben Turzynski and Ray Jones. The VFW canteen was brimming with customers in attendance to get a taste of each chili being judged.
Winners were selected by the judges and then customers voted for a ‘People’s Favorite’. Winners included: Denny McCreight for First Place, Drew Burlile & Brandon Seagraves teamed up to take Second Place and Ronnie Powell was Third. The People’s Choice was Sheri Holl.
VFW Post 9582 has lots of activities for the public to come enjoy. Dinners currently being held during Easter Lent season are ‘All You Can Eat’ Fish Dinners on Fridays, March 4, March 11 and March 18. On Friday, March 25, there are ‘Basket Dinners’ which have a selection of a Shrimp basket or a Chicken Chunks Basket or a Tenderloin or Steak Burger Basket. Dinners are served from 5 to 7 p.m. Each dinner is only $8 per person.
On Sunday, March 13 there will be a Daylight Savings Time Dinner starting at 4 p.m. Come enjoy a New York Strip Steak, Baked Potato and Salad for only $10 per person.
