DAYTON, OH (02/22/2016) – Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr. announced that Andrew T. French has been promoted to Chief of the Appellate Division, effective Monday, May 2, 2016, upon the retirement of Carley J. Ingram.
The Appellate Division is responsible for preparing and arguing all appeals of criminal and civil cases in which Montgomery County is a party. Attorneys in this division spend extensive time doing legal research, supporting the criminal trial prosecutors, preparing written briefs, and arguing cases before the Court of Appeals, Federal Courts and the Ohio Supreme Court.
Mr. French graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1992 and received his law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1998. He joined the office in 1998 and was assigned to the Appellate Division. In 2003, Andy left for one year to enter private practice, but returned to the Prosecutor’s Office in 2004. During his time in the office, Andy has been assigned to the Intake and Grand Jury Division, Criminal Docket Attorney and returned to the Appellate Division in 2010 where he has remained.
Mr. French lives with his wife and two children in Vandalia.
