Vandalia Police Reports Jan. 20-22

VANDALIA – The following police reports were received from the Vandalia Division of Police. All subjects are innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

January 20

Melvin Morris, 33, of Dayton, was arrested for drug possession and cited for failure to reinstate after a call about a suspicious vehicle on Volkman. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

A principal at Morton Middle School reported that a student threatened another student after an altercation. Investigation determined there was no criminal offense. A welfare check was done on one of the students. The investigation continues.

Police responded to a business on Center Dr. regarding a vehicle parked in the lot. It was listed as stolen from Thrifty Car Rental and towed at the request of the Dayton Airport Police.

A resident on Foley Drive reported several items stolen from his vehicle overnight. The investigation continues.

A vehicle on Bristol Dr. was broken into and the registration taken. The investigation continues.

A vehicle on Bristol Dr. was broken into and rifled through. The investigation continues.

Over 39 pounds of drugs were retrieved from the Vandalia Division of Police drop box in the lobby of the department. They were marked for destruction.

A resident on Spartan Ave. reports that his vehicle was stolen overnight. The investigation continues.

Stephanie A. Powers, 33, of Dayton, was arrested for disorderly conduct after she was seen staggering in the roadway at N. Dixie and Skyview. She was taken to the Montgomery County Jail.

January 21

Jamel A. Leon, 23, was arrested for domestic violence after an incident on Maple. He was taken to the county jail.

A 16-year old female was charged with being unruly after getting out of a vehicle at Thrifty Car Rental and refusing to listen. She was taken to the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center.

January 22

Trevor S. Coffman, 20, was issued a summons for criminal damaging after an incident involving damage to a car on Helke Road.

A resident on Royalwood Ct. reported that an unknown person used his identity to get cable service in Miami, Florida. The investigation continues.

Jimmy L. Matthews, 60, was arrested for disorderly conduct/public intoxication after being found on the ground in the area of Dixie Dr. and National Road. He was also found to have a warrant out of Vandalia Municipal Court for probation violation on a disorderly conduct. He was taken to the county jail.
