Vandalia Police Reports

VANDALIA – The following police reports were received from the Vandalia Division of Police. All subjects are innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

January 7

A Vandalia police officer joined the pursuit of a vehicle per request from the Ohio State Police. The officer joined the pursuit on I-75 south but disengaged once another trooper joined the pursuit on Benchwood between Miller Lane and Dixie Dr.

Vandalia police conducted an Intoxilyzer test for the Dayton Airport Police. Katie L. Backus, 24, tested 0.187 BAC and was transported back to the Airport Police department.

An unsecured dog attacked another dog who was walking on a leash on Westhafer Rd. The person whose dog was on a leash did not want to file charges.

License plates that were found at the National Road Car wash were brought to the department. Attempts to contact the registered owner were unsuccessful. The plates were placed in police property for safekeeping.

January 8

Complainants on Clyde Place reported that unknown suspect(s) had entered their residence and removed jewelry. Fingerprint evidence was collected and sent to the crime lab. The investigation continues.

January 9

A man walking his dog on Allanhurst Ave. reported that another dog attacked his dog. A quarantine notice was issued to the owner of the attacking dog.

A complainant on Waldsmith Way reported that unknown suspect(s) have used her credit/debit card to make transactions at several stores despite having possession of the card. The investigation continues.

January 11

Shelly Porter, III, 40, was arrested in a warrant out of the Montgomery County Court Eastern Division for failure to appear on a traffic offense after officers were called to evict guests at the Hawthorne Suites on Poe Avenue. He was transferred to the custody of a Huber Heights police officer.

A resident on Ronald St. reported a possible identity theft due to a credit card application that was declined that she reported as fraudulent. The investigation continues.

January 12

A complainant on Bristol Dr. reported that a person opened a Verizon account on the internet without his permission and ran up charges of $2,360 before the account was closed. The investigation continues.

A complainant on Greystone Circle reported that the brother of his girlfriend stole a check and forged his signature. The investigation continues.
