VANDALIA — The Gallery at the Vandalia Municipal Building is pleased to introduce the Steel Sculpture exhibit of Doug Benedict. Born in Vandalia and longtime resident of the Miami Valley, Benedict began sculpting about ten years ago.

His media of choice is salvaged steel.

“Reclamation is all about breathing new life into discarded industrial, automotive, farm, or cut out metal objects,” Benedict said. “My sculptures have a touch of realism and a touch of abstract —-bordering on the whimsical.”

Benedict is excited about the local exhibit and will hold a public reception the evening of Tuesday, January 19. Reception hours will be announced shortly.

“I have exhibited in many different venues; now I can add my hometown to that list,” said Benedict.

The Vandalia Municipal Building Gallery is open weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The building will be closed in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, January 18. There is no entrance charge.
