Vandalia Police Reports

VANDALIA – The following police reports were received from the Vandalia Division of Police. All subjects are innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

August 25

A resident on Spartan Ave. reported that an unknown person entered his unlocked garage and stole a lawn mower. The investigation continues.

August 26

A complainant reported receiving unwanted phone calls from a known subject who had been warned not to contact the complainant. The investigation continues.

Sean Joseph K. MacGowan, 24, was issued a summons for littering after an incident on Imperial Court.

A complainant on N. American Dr. reported that unknown persons opened a cell phone account with Verizon without her permission.

A complainant on Timberlake Dr. reported that a gun was stolen from his apartment. The investigation continues.

An officer was dispatched to Thrifty Car Rental on the report of drugs found in a rental car. The car was searched. The investigation continues.

Dwayne L. Bennett, 35, was arrested for felony domestic violence after an incident at an apartment on E. Van Lake Drive. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

August 27

A complainant reported the theft of property on behalf of a property owner on E. Alkaline Springs Road. The property owner is currently deployed on a military assignment. The investigation continues.

A complainant on Spartan Ave. reported being assaulted by two unknown males. The investigation continues.

Cameron A. Griffin, 21, was arrested for OVI after originally being stopped for driving under suspension. He was released to a sober friend.

August 28

A known male rented an air compressor from Vandalia Rental and did not return it as required. Several attempts have been made to contact the person who rented the equipment. The case i marked inactive pending the arrest of the subject.

A person reported that an unknown vehicle struck her vehicle in the parking lot of the Shell on W. National Road. The investigation continues.

A male and female subject were observed on surveillance video placing counterfeit bills in a change machine at Vandalia Coin Laundry. The investigation continues.

A complainant reported that an unknown male took a $100 bill out of her hand while she was paying off a vehicle at the Dayton Auto Auction. The investigation continues.

Jimmy L. Matthews, 60, was arrested for disorderly conduct after a complaint near the Pizza Hut on National Road. He had already been released for disorderly conduct/public intoxication earlier in the day. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

August 29

An employee of Kroger reported that a glass pumpkin was stolen from the store. The investigation continues.

A resident brought ammunition to the department for destruction.

A resident on E. Van Lake Drive reported that someone forced entry into an apartment and stole property. The investigation continues.

Police assisted a Butler Township officer in conducting an Intoxilyzer test. Brooks S. Cook, tested 0.173 BAC and stayed in the custody of the Butler Township officer.

August 30

Officers were dispatched to an address on Thoma Place on the report of an assault, but the victim signed a ‘refusal to prosecute” form.

Rocky H. Rohr, 58, was arrested on a warrant out of Vandalia Municipal Cout for failure to appear on an original charge of receiving stolen property. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Kacey E. Trueblood, 22, and Jarrod K. Clauser, 23, were arrested for disorderly conduct for fighting outside the Little York Tavern. Both were released to a sober friend.

August 31

A 16-year old juvenile female was charged with being unruly after running from a van at Maple and Bohannan Drive. She was located and returned home.

September 1

Morgan N. Schlheiss, 21, was arrested on a warrant for a drug offense out of Hamilton, Ohio after a traffic stop on Poe Avenue. She was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Scott Polson, 30, was arrested on a warrant out of Montgomery County Municipal Court for failure to appear for trial on an Assured Clear Distance Ahead charge. He was taken to the Montgomery County Jail.

and Jesse R. Linn, 29, was arrested on an expired license plate, driving under suspension, and no seat belt and his passenger, Jennifer H. Cawson, 22, was arrested for no seat belt after a traffic stop following suspicious behavior at the Knights Inn parking lot on Poe Ave. Both were released in spite of Michigan being a non-compact state due to restrictions at the county jail.
