VANDALIA – Members of Girl Scout Troop 30696 volunteered at Vandalia’s Jeffers Park last week building a compost pile for those who utilize the city’s community garden plots at the park.

The Scouts will be transitioning from Junior level to Cadette level Scouts soon. They all attended Smith School last year and will enter Morton Middle School this fall.

“Today was the culmination of their community project for their Bronze Award – the highest award that Junior Scouts can achieve,” said leader Dana Kragick in an email. “From this project we went to lunch, and then to the FD on Peters to earn our First Aid badge with Officer Hannahan before hitting Cassell Hills pool. We returned them to their parents good and tired, I believe.”

Troop #30696 is composed of Davina Anderson, Chloe Barnett, Megan Carlisle, Aubrey Garman, Katie Holmes, Anne Kragick, Lauren Randolph, Lily Susag, and Sydney White. Their leaders are Kragick and Diana Carlisle.
