Vandalia welcomes two police officers

VANDALIA — The City of Vandalia swore in two new police officers on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Officers Stephen Heister and Jeffrey Selzer were sworn in by City Manager Jon Crusey in council chambers last week.

Heister fills a vacancy created by the promotion Sergeant Lawson in May.

He has a Masters of Science in Sports Management from California University of Pennsylvania. Heister graduated from the Valencia (FL) Community College Police Academy in 1995. He has held law enforcement positions in Florida and, more recently, at Grandview Medical Center.

Stelzer fills a vacancy created by a resignation in July. He is a graduate of Northwestern High School in Clark County and joined the Division of Police as a Public Safety Specialist in 2016. Stelzer previously served as a police officer in German Township. He graduated from the police academy at Clark State Community College.
