Vandalia Police Reports

VANDALIA – The following police reports were received from the Vandalia Division of Police. All subjects are innocent until found guilty in court of law.

September 21

An officer was dispatched to Kroger on the report of a theft by a male. The suspect got into a vehicle with an unknown passenger and left the scene. The investigation continues.

Officers responded to an address on Brindlestone on the report of a non-breathing person. Medics were unable to resuscitate the victim. The coroner moved the body to the Miami Valley Crime Lab. The investigation continues.

A complainant reported that an unknown person stole the license plates off her son’s car while parked at an apartment on Continental Court. The investigation continues.

September 22

A complainant reported that he received a phone call stating he owed money to the IRS, then returned the call. The caller told the victim to purchase iTunes cards and give him the serial numbers. The investigation continues.

A complainant reported that he was robbed at gunpoint on Tionda Drive. The investigation continues.

A juvenile was charged with possession of marijuana after police investigated a suspicious vehicle parked on S. Cassel Road. Two juveniles were warned for trespassing.

A known suspect from Cincinnati attempted to forge a check but the bank caught the forgery and contacted the complainant. The investigation continues.

September 23

Jeremiah Mertz was arrested for domestic violence after an incident on Stoneysprings Road. Mertz fled on foot but later arrested him after he returned to the apartment.

September 24

Russell E. Atchley, 34, was arrested on a felony warrant out of Bexar County, Texas for stalking. Atchley cut off his GPS ankle bracelet. He was taken to the county jail.

Andrea Hand was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after an incident on Cuyuse St. She was taken to the county jail.

James Rosenfeld was arrested on a felony warrant out of Montgomery County. He was taken to the county jail.

A complainant on Timberlake Drive reported her boyfriend hit her and pushed her down. The suspect could not be located. The investigation continues.

Vandalia Parks and Recreation reported that unknown suspect(s) set a fire in the men’s bathroom at the concession stand at the Vandalia Sports Complex. The investigation continues.

September 25

A complainant reported that her juvenile daughter was being cyber-bullied by a known juvenile female. The investigation continues.

Jovon Jones was arrested on an active warrant out of Vandalia Municipal Court for failure to appear on a driving while suspended case. Vandalia police picked up Jones from a Kettering officer and transported him to jail.

The store manager at Ziebart reported a customer paid for services with a check that was returned for insufficient funds. All attempts to get the customer to pay for the services were unsuccessful. Police spoke to the subject and agreed to pay the debt. The investigation continues.

September 26

Michael D. Wagner, 54, was arrested for domestic violence after an incident on Stonequarry Road. He was taken to the county jail.

An officer responded to the Dollar General store on the report of shoplifting. The suspects fled on foot. The investigation continues.

Nicholas E. Reed, 25, was arrested for domestic violence after an incident on Randler Ave. A temporary warrant was put out for him and he was arrested by Dayton Police and taken to the county jail.
